👑 Field Story:

The Royal Harvest of HRH Freyja

Harvest Date: August 8th, 2026

Apiary Origin: The Vanguard Hive

Matriarch: Her Royal Highness (HRH) Queen Freyja

You’re One Lucky Bee! 🐝✨

If your lid jar sticker is marked as a 'Late Summer Harvest' - You are holding a jar from one of the most celebrated hives in our entire yard!

When we opened up The Vanguard to inspect their honey supers, we found something extraordinary. Queen Freyja’s colony had worked with absolute precision, building flawlessly flat, razor-straight comb and sealing every single cell under a blanket of cappings white as snow.

In the beekeeping world, fresh "virgin wax" cappings like these are a mark of exceptional hive health, abundance, and untouched purity. Queen Freyja and her crew built this comb from scratch and cured this nectar to perfection during the peak of summer blooms.

📜 From the Hive to Your Table
  • The Colony: Led by Queen Freyja, a gentle, powerhouse queen known for her prolific egg-laying and ridiculously hard-working foragers.

  • The Nectar: A rich late-summer wildflower blend gathered across the fields and pastures of Fort Atkinson.

  • The Craft: Unfiltered, raw, and unheated—bottled directly after extraction to preserve all the natural enzymes, pollen, and delicate floral notes.

Every drop in this jar is a testament to HRH Freyja's thriving kingdom. Enjoy a taste of late summer at Sugar Camp!

🍯 Field Journal: The Summer '26 Harvest

Harvest Date: July 17, 2026

Conditions: 84°F at 10:00 AM | Bright Sun & Summer Heat

Yield: 55.4 lbs of Pure, Raw Local Honey

Featured Hives: The Bastion & The Vault

☀️ The Tale of Two Hives: A Tale of Sunshine & Character

This batch is a true testament to the work ethic and personality of our bees! Harvested on a blistering summer morning under dry, sun-drenched skies, our forage-hungry ladies were working overtime to turn nectar gathered across local fields into pure golden perfection.

What makes this limited batch extra special is that it brings together two of the most polar-opposite personalities in our apiary:

  • The Precision Artisans (The Bastion): Known around the yard for their feisty, protective nature and meticulous craftsmanship, these guardians build straight, flawless, perfectly regimented honeycomb. They contributed 5 full frames of rich nectar to this batch.

  • The Carefree Hippies (The Vault): The exact opposite of their neighbors, The Vault is our sweet, easygoing "hippy hive." They build whimsical, free-flowing, swooping comb wherever their hearts desire, handing over 4 frames of pure sunshine.

Combined, their hard work created a complex, multi-layered summer flavor profile that truly captures the local flora of Fort Atkinson!

🫙 Hand-Bottled with Family Care

After pulling a massive 55.4-pound payload, this harvest moved straight to the Sugar Camp kitchen for bottling!

Every single jar from this batch was hand-filled right here at home—with plenty of enthusiastic help from our resident Junior Beekeeper, James, operating the honey gate. From unsealing the frames to carefully capping and labeling each jar, this bottle represents hours of family teamwork, sweat, and a genuine passion for natural beekeeping.

📋 Batch Profile

  • Raw & Unfiltered: Never micro-filtered or flash-heated, preserving all the natural enzymes, local pollens, and rich flavor.

  • Tasting Notes: Bright floral notes with a warm, deep, caramel-clover finish.

  • Pairings: Perfect drizzled over fresh berries, warm buttermilk biscuits, charcuterie boards, or mixed into your favorite summer cocktail!

Thank you for supporting hyper-local bees and family-run apiaries! From our yard to your table—enjoy every drop. 🐝

☀️ The Harvest Diary

  • Date & Time: July 1st, 2026 at around 3:30 PM.

  • The Beekeepers: Amanda and my son, James.

  • The Hive: This specific batch came entirely from "The Vault"—one of our favorite, most productive hive boxes.

  • The Weather: It was a sweltering 93 degree summer afternoon and the bees were buzzing with incredible energy.

🌸 What the Bees Were Foraging (Early July Blooms)

When James and I pulled these frames, the apiary was surrounded by a massive, tall field of sweet clover in peak bloom. Under the shade of our backyard's Japanese elm trees, our bees flew across Fort Atkinson to gather nectar from local wildflowers and native backyard forage, including:

  • White & Red Sweet Clover: The star of this harvest, giving the honey its signature, incredibly light color and classic sweetness.

  • Wild Backyard "Weeds": The bees found exactly what they needed in un-mowed fence lines, ditches, and overgrown patches—including wild milkweed, chicory (those bright blue roadside flowers), and wild bee balm (bergamot).

  • Summer Gardens: Early purple coneflowers and local backyard flowerbeds blossoming right at the turn of July.

🥄 Tasting Notes:

"The Vault" Summer Batch

Because this honey was made from early-summer nectar, it has a beautiful, pale golden clarity.

  • The Flavor Profile: Exceptionally mild, light, and delicate. It carries a classic, clean sweetness with soft, warm floral undertones.

  • The Texture: Smooth, velvety, and incredibly clean on the palate—it melts away effortlessly without any heavy aftertaste.
